General Summary of Position

Under Pharmacist supervision, the Central Support Technician assists pharmacist(s) in all areas of pharmacy operations, focusing on prescription preparation and customer service through creating and maintaining patient's profiles, data entry and adjudication to third party payors in a central location.MedStar Pharmacy is committed to providing world-class, compassionate care to every patient, every time, at every touch point. Primary Responsibilities:

Ensures data entry related queues are processed in order based on patient's needs.
Processes refills, and performs data entry of new prescriptions including demographics, insurance plans, and prescription information under the supervision of a pharmacist and according to policy; brings to the attention of a pharmacist any claims requiring overrides or interventions; troubleshoots insurance claim rejects; and, follows up on problem prescriptions.

Minimum Qualifications
Education

High School Diploma or GED required or
equivalent. required

Experience

3-4 years Pharmacy technician experience in a retail setting or equivalent traning. required and
1-2 years Customer service experience or equivalent experience. preferred

Licenses and Certifications

Must have successfully completed the pharmacy technician certification through the nationally accredited certification examination of PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) required or
the ExCPT (Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians). required and
Pharmacy technician licensure required or
registration as required by the state where the pharmacy/pharmacies are located (Maryland or DC). required

Excellent customer service skills and problem-solving skills.

This position has a hiring range of $19.17 - $33.08
