Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

Provides individualized patient care in the Float Pool for the Emergency Department. This care is based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety, and learning needs of the individual patients. Performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care at Rose Medical Center. Works in collaboration with the ED techs to maintain supplies, stock and equipment. The RN displays positive support for the mission and values of RMC. Provides care to all age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. Perform Lab testing as assigned based on protocol of each test, documenting results and communicating critical as defined. Complete competency as required. Follow lab testing safety guidelines, maintenance and QC completion/documentation, and proficiency testing as assigned. Follow "good lab practice" in testing and initiate corrective action as issues occur with test system or result. Educational records (diploma or transcript) are mandatory for staff performing non-waived testing.

The Float pool Registered Nurse demonstrates knowledge and skills in the care of patients. Each service also requires specialized skills. The delivery of care is based on criteria that is age appropriate and is based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety, and learning needs of the individual patients. The Registered Nurse may be asked to float to areas other than his/her assigned service area, and will perform only those duties for which he/she has demonstrated competency. The Registered Nurse performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care at Rose Medical Center. Provides care to the age specific population on the assigned nursing units floated to: Neonatal (birth to 1 month), Pediatric (1month to 17 years), Adult (18 years to 65 years) and Geriatric (65 years and more) .

What you will do in this role:

• You will demonstrate your nursing specialty advanced knowledge, skills and understanding of the unique aspects of the population served in the care of your patients.
• As a float pool nurse, you will utilize your specialized skills and unit specific competencies.
• You will oversee and direct the care of CNA’s and assistive personnel, maintaining final accountability for the care given to assigned patients.
• You may rotate to other areas other than your normally assigned service area/s, and will perform only those duties for which you have demonstrated competency.

What qualifications you will need:

• Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate Registered Nurse license.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Current NRP certification through AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics).
• TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) and ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) required within 6 months of hire date. (Note: ENPC is only required for initial certification time and is not required for renewal.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. BSN preferred.
• Minimum of 1-2 years Critical Care experience.
